Promoting Agricultural Awareness

For over 130 years, the Vancouver Island Exhibition has proudly showcased agriculture, livestock, horticulture, floriculture, home arts, and hobbies. Our annual fair and related events serve to educate, inspire, and celebrate the vital role of agriculture in our community.

Educate & Encourage

We believe in fostering a deeper appreciation for agriculture, especially among young people and 4-H clubs. Through interactive exhibits and hands-on learning, we highlight the value of farming and sustainability in everyday life.

Amuse & Amaze!

VIEx is a family-friendly event that brings together generations for a weekend of entertainment, fun, and discovery. From thrilling performances to engaging exhibits, there’s something for everyone!

Supporting Local Communities

Our fair is a hub for local artisans, businesses, and community groups. By showcasing industrial, commercial, mechanical, and household arts, we aim to strengthen connections and encourage local growth and prosperity.

The Vancouver Island Exhibition has been a staple in Nanaimo for over 130 years! Since its inception, it has been instrumental in promoting agricultural education, supporting local farmers and 4-H clubs, and reminding our community of the importance of agricultural sustainability. As urbanization continues, it’s more important than ever to celebrate and preserve our farming heritage.

While professionals proudly showcase their crafts and products, it’s often the children who steal the show. Bright-eyed kids engaging with farm animals, learning about agriculture, and discovering new skills embody the heart of VIEx. Join us in stepping back to appreciate the simple yet meaningful aspects of life.
